Welcome

Cornwall is rich in music making, much of it by amateurs, whether it is Brass Bands, Male Voice Choirs, Orchestras or its numerous Mixed voice groups.

If you are interested in joining the choir, we would be delighted to see you at our rehearsals which are held in school term time at Newquay Learning Academy, Edgcumbe Avenue on Mondays at 7.30pm. There are no auditions and anyone interested will receive a warm welcome.

In April our Musical Director indicated to the Society that after 10 years or so in that position she wished to resign.  David Burleigh of Truro  kindly agreed to rehearse us for our December concert. Following our advertising for a permanent Musical Director we were pleased to appoint him as our permanent Musical Director.  The committee are looking forward to working with David as he has some exciting plans for the next few years.
The committee was shocked to learn of the sudden death on 31st July of our Accompanist , Mr. Chris Smith. Chris had served the Society loyally and very ably for at least 25years and will be sorely missed. We  were fortunate to acquire the services of Steve Uttley, formerly Head of Music at Treviglas School, who
has already settled in well with our group.
We are an established  choir of 50+, and our vision is to provide an opportunity for all to experience the joy of choral singing.
We normally perform 2 concerts a year, one in early December and the other on Good Friday, and we also take part in community concerts when required. The MD proposes the programme for these concerts which is discussed with a supportive committee.
